| Since I don't really want to make about a BAJILLION threads to talk about the things I'm either reading or obsessive over (since that can be a lot. BELIEVE ME.), I decided to condense it all into one thread and open it up for discussion of other series. Spiffy, isn't it? Well, I guess I'll begin with some stuff I'm either reading, waiting for, or recently finished.
Prince of Tennis/Tennis no ouji-sama:
Ah, yes. I recently finished reading the manga series and watching the filler episodes (cause the series was WAY too long for me to live with). It's pretty dull at first, being that it's entirely about tennis (duh...) and the characters can get pretty boring at times too. HOWEVER. When the guys are that pretty, who really cares about that? XD
Okay, now seriously. I personally enjoyed reading this series only because the characters were pretty attractive--for the most part. The filler chapters/episodes were all a lot more entertaining to me than the actual matches themselves (minus that one really messed up doubles match with the masks and the wigs), and in all reality my favorite character was really...kinda dull...for the most part. BUT, I enjoyed it nonetheless. The humor made me giggle at random, and I really LOVED the entire Prince of Yakiniku (sp?) chapters before the Rikkai finals. Hi-lar-i-ous. Seriously. You don't even have to know the characters to find that funny. But I loved the characters, and it made me very sad when I finished with it. Now, something else I enjoyed? Sanada's b*tch-slapping.
Okay, so that's pretty specific, but come ON. How could you not enjoy watching someone getting slapped? And even more entertaining was that entire bit where Niou (sp?) got that dramatic slap that looked vaguely like, "Oh no you didn't girlfriend!" ...Yeah. That was highly entertaining to me. MOVING ON.
Elfin Lied
Yet another series I started and finished over the summer. I was a little worried that this was going to suck, but I needed some fantasy and bloodshed after finishing Prince of Tennis, and really, just another series to read. I didn't have too many expectations with this, but I was gladly mistaken. It was pretty good, and I found myself enjoying the violence as well as the bits in between. The style and the excessive amounts of overall nudity/perverted jokes did bother me a bit, but the entire idea of diclonius and vectors kept me going. I absolutely loved Lucy, Mariko, and Nana. I loved how the horns looked, and I loved the flying limbs and heads, but then again, that's just me...
Detective Conan/Case Closed
This series has been an on-off thing for me. I read up to volume twelve a few years back, got bored, and put it down until last year when I went to a friend's house and watched the Holmes Freak Murder Case. I then found an obsessive craze over Hattori Heiji, which...has died significantly in light of Okiya Subaru, Gin, Akai Shuichi, and Kaitou Kid. The series can get pretty repetitive as far as the story goes. Murder, solve, murder, solve, BLACK ORGANIZATION! Repeat. But overall it's not a terrible series for people into the entire mystery genre. I personally love detective stories, particularly Sherlock Holmes, so this series was kinda like a wake-up call to me. If you like mystery and detectives and a bit of drama, this is a pretty good series to look into. Though...true...it's 668 chapters long and STILL not done...
Kodomo no Jikan
Another series I'm waiting for the end of. It's a nice break from action and blood and sports, but the adult material can get to be a bit much at times. There's a lot of drama, and certainly no lack of little kids and romance, but it's a pretty good series for someone looking for slice-of-life (though it's...pretty unrealistic life) or a shoujo. Not recommended for those with immature minds that can't handle mild adult content.
DOGS
Okay, I swear, this'll be the last one. DOGS is a pretty interesting series done by the artist of the Devil May Cry 3 manga. It's a nice series for people looking for action and suspense. It's set in an underground world for the most part and it follows a number of characters through their escapades. Some of the violence is really unnecessary, and the story itself is at a confusing point, but it's a pretty good series overall. Especially if you can attach yourself to a favorite character. I personally love Badou in all his dumbassness. Seriously.
Now, if you made it through all that, feel free to stare in horror at the ridiculousness of my boredom and talk about whatever you've been reading/craving/obsessing over and I shall see what I can do to entertain you. ^^

his hair turning blue, AND it poofs out, so that covers the 10% bigger and stronger on hair and huge increase in power (tennis wise) he cuts the tennis ball in HALF when he hits it, the other guy MAGICALLY returns it, and then he smashes it with the ball halves spliting apart making two symetrical craters next to the opponent...winning the match obviously there, that's the end of prince of tennis, except then they're a gay poem and he moves to america and says the same crap he said in volume 1 TEH FRIGGIN END :p
