VOID HAS BEEN COMPLETED. A long time ago, I might add.

RULES:

Original characters may enter.

NO GOD CHARACTERS. God characters are characters with insane (godly) powers. (Mako/Itou, A.T.C., that means you)

NO CLONE CHARACTERS. (Kiki/Tamah, that means you)

Put it simply, NO MARY-SUES OR GARY-STUES.

If any of these rules are broken, you will get a strike. 2 strikes, and all of your posts will be deleted. No exceptions.

MARY SUE TEST:

http://www.springhole.net/quizzes/marysue.htm

Post your score after taking the test. Please be truthful. I can tell if you're lying.

You must score lower than 21 in order to pass the test. If you fail, the character is not allowed to join the RP. If you post without posting your score, your subsequent posts will be deleted. If you fail, but wish to keep posting, you must create a new character, post it on the character sheet, then take the test again. If he/she passes, the character is allowed to join.

...what's...not to understand...?
It's just click the boxes that apply to your character, and if you're not sure, just ask people.
Rai's at about 21, but that's without taking her family into consideration...

They had parted ways shortly after Raikou had lost herself in the darkness of her own soul, and her hope had been to disappear for good. If that was the case, then everything could go. The pain, the guilt, the shame. Everything could have disappeared along with her, and Baihukourei would be free. He’d proven himself worthy, after all, so Raikou had gone and closed her eyes…

…but there were still connections to the world outside. She couldn’t seem to let herself drown in self-hatred or sorrow. A soft voice, no, two…three. More than that. It wasn’t often she heard her name being called out so desperately in earnest. The girl let herself be pulled from the depths of herself and found herself awakening in the cold mountain air, her mismatched eyes glancing about wildly. She didn’t know where she was, she couldn’t have known. Baihukourei had moved her body while she’d been wallowing in self-pity. The fighter found that there were faces she recognized nearby...

…and yet she still had to bid them farewell…

Two mismatched eyes snapped open in the waning darkness of the early morning. The sun had yet to rise over the peaks of the mountains, seeing as there was a dip where Raikou happened to be. That had all been years ago, so why were the events still playing clearly through her head? How long had it been since her journey with Ferzain and the others? How long had it been since she’d taken Na’e on as a student. She didn’t teach him any sort of martial arts, as were the wishes of Baihukourei and the lessons branded in her mind, but she taught him about lightning. How to control it, to call it, to ask it for help. The kinds of things that she had been taught by her father.

Things she’d rather have forgotten.

But still, there was a need to keep the ideas alive. People needed to realize that lightning was a volatile thing. It would strike in an instant and vanish even faster. Raikou understood that. She took in a few deep breaths of fresh mountain air. Older and wiser, young and sweet. Two things that clashed together within her body at that moment. The sun began to poke over the mountain tops and Raikou sighed softly to herself while getting to her feet. She’d gotten taller, though still not enough to beat Vincent’s ungodly height…

Speaking of which, the boy was probably still asleep. She growled lightly in frustration while she stretched before walking back towards the main house that she started finding a lack of time to sleep in. Nobody had come to find her little hiding place yet, but that was because Torao thought she was weak. Thought that Raikou would have avoided the place where her grandfather died at all costs. He was wrong. The girl wasn’t out for revenge, but she wanted out of her father’s constant plots. She had already decided he was insane, there was little need to be dragged in front of him so he could prove it. A breeze blew some of Raikou’s hair out of her face. It was all black now. She’d learned the secret behind her multi-colored hair about a year ago. Torao had dyed it down to the roots, but it was gone now.

But in any case, there was something more important to be done at that moment. Breakfast. The girl walked into the door and promptly stood at the foot of Vincent’s sad excuse for a bed. Placing her hands on her hips, the fighter looked down and gave her childhood friend a swift kick to the ribs. ”Rise and shine. It’s your turn to catch fish today, Van Reaux.” True, she didn’t often refer to Vincent as “Van Reaux” but it was still by far, one of the more comfortable ones. Her eyes narrowed slightly. Na’e was probably still asleep and waiting for the trademark bangs, crashes, and other loud sound effects to wake him up from his place in the little shack that had been relinquished to him when the three had first arrived at the training grounds.

//That lovely little Sue test thingy, took forever first off. Being lazy, forever means 2 days including all that jazz in between. Solid 20.//

A river, that’s all it was, a simple river in front of him…or was it a lake? The blonde frowned and shook his head, shaking his somewhat shorter hair along with it. After much nagging from Rai he’d finally given in and gave his unruly hair a clean. Actually, he hadn’t given in. Hell, he’d gone and taken a nap and the idiot had pinned him down with some random rope she’d pulled out of her butt. His pale long fingers reached up, running his hands gently along his platinum blonde hair. Vincent Van Reux shuddered at remembering the girl coming at him with razor sharp scissors. Of course in this isolated place, no one heard Vincent’s screams except Na’e, who didn’t exactly help him at the time. “ I swear…” if Na’e weren’t living in his small shack near the main house, Rai would probably already be proudly mounting his head on the wall.

Back to the river, Vincent shut his eyes and re-opened them again as if his vision would improve from how it had been a moment before. Just as he’d expected…it didn’t. It didn’t take long for the Van Reux boy to realize that this little event here was a dream, a simple one at that, no charging monsters, no raging idiot, not even a sound. Long time since Vincent had a dream like this. As usual, even though the dream seemed so nice and serene, he remained on his guard. “Everything happens for a reason.” He concluded finally, glancing around he began to think deeply. Maybe he’d forgotten to do something important….

Without warning a tiny gray object leapt madly out of the water. The action took Vincent by surprise for a moment, but only for a moment. The grass crunched beneath his feet as the assassin took a step forward cautiously towards the object. The event occurred again, this time though it didn’t surprise Vincent in the least, he’d mentally prepared himself for the jump. “Fish?” he frowned. Why in the world was he placed in front of a river-thing with grey fish jumping happily out of it? “Wait...” The fish made another jump, but this time it flew straight for him teeth barred as well. Yes, this alarmed Vincent ever so slightly, causing him to make a swift movement backwards a safer distance from the flying monster. No such luck, the damn thing hit him straight in the ribs and GOD did it hurt….

“AUGH!” the blonde woke with a start, sitting straight up and clutching his side. It didn’t exactly hurt to the point of dying and writhing on the floor in pain, but it basically startled him. Without even having to think, Vincent immediately knew who the culprit was; he glared at the black-haired girl with his piercing crimson eyes, his left hand still on his side. The both of them had definitely changed over the years; Rai had matured and turned into a woman, her tone of voice even changed. Vincent himself had remained taller than Rai and somehow, his voice had become deeper and harsher. Those who didn’t know him kept their distance. But their fluctuating attitudes towards each other definitely have not changed over the long years…

Once again, his attention focused on the girl in front of him with her hands on her hips saying something about fish. “Ohh.” Came his dejected sigh. Vincent’s eyebrows rose, that’s what the dream must have been about, meaning he did remember it before he went to bed. That whole ‘the early bird catches the worm’ thing never really worked out with Vinny. Sitting in place, he turned left and right stretching out his tired limbs until he felt a small tightening in his side. He grunted, looking back up at the fighter, he knew it wouldn’t be long until Torao came after the both of them. Absentmindedly, Vincent fingered the chain around his neck then grimaced; his bed was a mess, what exactly did he do in his sleep, flop around like a fish? Hand still on chain, Vincent gazed up at Raikou again, what was she still doing there? Growling, partially out of frustration from the kick to the side and also from the fact that he’d forgotten about the fish, the assassin noticed that she’d left herself wide open. With a smug grin on his face, he swiftly reached forward with all intention of tripping her.

Cursed Conflicts -new RP!- Empty
PostSubject: Re: Cursed Conflicts -new RP!-   Cursed Conflicts -new RP!- EmptyFri Jun 19, 2009 12:58 pm

Her kick had made a satisfying thump, and the startled shout in response made the girl fight hard to beat back a grin. Perhaps it had been her father’s sadism rubbing off on her at that moment, but she hadn’t actually tried to hurt the boy. If she had, he’d probably be rolling around with a punctured lung. After all, bones were weak and easy to break. She’d learned that after accidentally breaking her own every so often. Of course, Raikou had been a bit of a monster when she had, knowing that there would be a scolding or taunts to be heard whenever she did. While being in the prime of her life did help her bones heal faster, usually the girl simply forced her heart to work faster to help her body. But that was beside the point, the real point was that Vincent was up and awake at that moment.

True, while her appearance had changed, and though she generally started to act with more maturity, something had made her…afraid to do the same when it involved Vincent. Raikou had tried, she honestly had. Being mature, she realized that if her father did end up figuring out where the two were, he’d put them both on short leashes—figuratively of course—and since that was the case, the martial artist had known that her attitude had to change towards Vincent. It was just a lot harder than it looked. Something in her fought hard every time she tried to move Vincent onto the same level that she treated everyone else. Raikou simply thought that it had been because he was basically the only good thing that Torao had ever introduced into her childhood…or lack of one.

Regardless, the boy was starting to move, though it was certainly not with enthusiasm. Raikou gave a silent laugh that seemed more like a quick exhalation from the nose than anything else. He was bad at getting up, but Raikou tried to understand. He hadn’t been raised in her home, so what could Vincent know about rising early, long before the sun had risen? It had been part of her daily routine back at the main estate, and the adventure with Ferzain had only kept her achingly tired or wounded enough to change that for a short amount of time. Her mind went to the small white marks on her stomach. Reminders of the time that the dragon in the baths had bashed her with its hard and scaly head. The cuts had healed over, but the marks refused to leave. There also happened to be a few scars littered on her arms, though that had been from being chewed on and pierced by other things over the course of her journey to the cave of whatever. Raikou would have willingly turned and left at that moment so she could reflect on a few things, but Vincent just had to do it.

It seemed that from the time the two had been reunited, Vincent had always been trying to one-up Raikou. Whenever she managed to do something, he’d find a way to get her back. At that moment, his hand had darted out and managed to get in her way. Surprised, the girl stumbled about, and despite her generally good balance, could find no way to save herself as she started to fall. Of course, Vincent, brilliant boy he was, had miscalculated something. Raikou was definitely not falling the way he had thought she might. There was a soft thump as Raikou fell into the floor…no, it wasn’t the floor. It was softer and meatier than the floor.

A few moments had passed before Raikou got it into her head that something was awkwardly wrong about the position she’d landed. Instantly, the girl blinked and squirmed until she was in a position where she would be able to get up, finding that she apparently hadn’t landed on people enough. Giving a soft noise of effort that sounded more like a “mrewww” than anything else, Raikou eventually managed to roll off her friend. Her eyes narrowed a bit and her lips formed themselves into something similar to a pout and the girl gave a not-so-playful sock to the jaw hard enough to cause minor pain, but not enough to knock the boy out before getting to a squatting position. From there, she grabbed the front of Vincent’s shirt and after getting up to a standing position, lifted him a bit off the ground, and then frowned at him.

”Go get the fish and don’t come back until you do,” blunt, simple and to the point. After that, Raikou tossed her friend at the wall with all the intention of sending him through it, forgetting that it would mean fixing it…again.

OOC: Na'e scores a 16. I was expecting higher... but...

Na'e awoke to the deafening snapping of wood. He grumbled, annoyed. He'd had odd wake-up calls before, but nothing like this before... normally it was a frying pan to the head or a pail of fresh river water dumped on his head. He brushed his overgrown back hair out of his face and threw the white sheets off of himself. Slowly, he climbed, well, more fell out of bed. Crippled by morning grogginess, his head hit the bedstand with a small klunck.

"Egh...." Na'e breathed, rubbing his head. He looked around the room of the cabin. There were clothes strewn everywhere, all of which belonged to him. He picked up a black shirt here, a pair of pants.... socks.... and quickly slipped all of the articles onto his body. he wouldn't want to have Raikou catch him in this state. Na'e waited for a moment to let the sleepiness drain from his mind, and took another cursory glance around the room. So far, so good. He hadn't missed anything. Na'e gave a sigh of relief. It had been a long time since that time in the cave... the horrific events that unfolded within... but none of that mattered anymore. He'd changed since then. His black hair had grown wild: it was a struggle to fit his mask on nowadays. Na'e had also grown a little bit taller, too: not as tall as Vincent, but still enough to put Raikou in her place as the shortest person around. Na'e gave a silent chuckle and smiled. Isiya was in peace, and he was training with the girl of his dreams. Life couldn't be better, could it? Na'e mused, walking out the doorway, grabbing his mask off the bedstand before he left. The radiant sunlight was blinding: Na'e put up a hand to shield himself from the light. As he slipped the black mask over his head, he continued to walk down the stone walkway and into the main house. As he passed by the garden, Na'e couldn't help but wonder how it must have taken Raikou to plant all those flowers. There must be thousands of those beautiful red flowers... He threw open the wooden slide door, only to find an unconcious Vincent lying in the middle of the floor with a lot of wooden splinters lying around him. Na'e's eyes darted to the wall, and there was a gaping hole where the blonde had presumably been thrown through. Na'e's eyes widened, but he was used to seeing things like this. As he expected, Na'e spotted Raikou on the other side of the wall, looking rather content.

"Having fun without me?" Na'e grinned.

[[ooc:: Will edit in a post to this one later, but yes, 0-16 is relatively boring, and if you're me, you do this test on someone and get a negative 14. Wtf?]]

Being strong and stupid were among the best things that Raikou could do. Having not been given a proper education--or at least, not remembering it--and adding the fact that when Baihukourei had gone feral he'd taken a rather large chunk out of her intelligence, the girl was...less than smart. True, her battle sense was good, and her ability to adapt was fair as well, but there were things that the girl had been known to do that most would raise their eyebrows at. Things like break her house for the third time in the past six days or jump off cliffs to help someone. Ahh...those were the days.

Her attention was pulled away from the splintered rubble she'd created when a familiar voice came into play. It might not have been as familiar to her old friends, but hell. He'd been training and living with her for the past few years. He'd even grown taller than her, which had bothered the girl a bit. She didn't like being the smallest around. It made her feel like the dainty little girl that couldn't possibly defend herself. True, when she was younger, she'd always wanted to be the damsel in distress kind of princess, the kind that others wouldn't look at like "oh, it's this generation's host! How are you?" and then proceed to talk only about the curse with. Then again, others to her really meant others in her family. There weren't many that she could relate to that weren't of her own blood. She glanced up with her mismatched eyes at Na'e and suppressed a little chuckle at his words. She wouldn't have doubted that her friend would have come up with some other way to wake Vincent, but he knew her well enough to know her own methods. Raikou straightened herself back to a standing position and crossed her arms, a smile dancing across her face.

"Well, if it involves somehow hurting Vincent, I'm sure it would be fun...but regardless, since you seem awake already, we'll begin training," Raikou stated while brushing her hair out of her face. "It's earlier than usual, but we have to work harder today. Tomorrow...well...if you must train, you'll be doing it with Vincent. I won't be in any mood or condition." It was true. The next day was one of the few in a year that Raikou would refuse to do anything that resembled training or fighting, and hell, she was pretty sure even Vincent knew not to mess with her then. In past years, her mood had steadily grown more somber and dark as the day approached, but Raikou had learned how to keep her mood elevated, but once that day came around, she'd probably be in the garden from before sunrise to dawn the next day. It would be the anniversary of her grandfather's death, and while she had yet to share the reason for her refusal to train on that day, the girl was certain that eventually either Vincent or Na'e had to figure it out...or perhaps they had already. They probably just didn't understand the garden, the little patch of flowers that grew on the training grounds, the only place that she had unreasonably banned both Vincent and Na'e from. But that was beside the point.

The girl's eyes went to Vincent and thought on a few things from her past. It hadn't been all that bad, really. Torao doted on her in his own unpleasant way, and had bothered to get her a friend, though it had been for his own reasons. Her grandfather, or, at least who she'd thought was her grandfather, was generally a kind person to her as well. The girl remembered that the days that Vincent had come over, she was allowed to skip training and enjoy herself properly with the Van Reaux boy. Torao had probably seen the benefits if the two got close at an early age, but it had given Raikou something to look forward to. His visits weren't very numerous, usually limited to a few times a month due to the fact that he didn't live on the mountains, and climbing them took more effort than it was worth, but the Koukami had always been glad to receive him. She remembered in her younger years, before he left, she would always continue waving until he'd disappeared past the ridge, and then the girl would stay, hoping he would have forgotten something or realized that she'd hidden one of his belongings...

Some people said that the past should remain just that, the past. Raikou had never understood why. It was the past that shaped a person, and the present that made them who they were for the future. The girl returned her attention to Na'e. Now that his hair had grown wild, Raikou was constantly demanding that he went to bathe and to remember to try brushing out his hair. It took a vast amount of effort for Raikou herself to look like she did, and the days where she didn't take care of herself were...disastrous. Her hair was usually carefully brushed until the tangles no longer bothered her, her clothes generally in good enough condition to cover most of her skin--usually so she wouldn't be waving scars around in people's faces--and often it took her a while to get herself clean and smelling decent after a hard day of work. It was common knowledge that Raikou bathed every day, but at what time she did was probably shrouded in mystery. After all, she was always cooking when the other two were cleaning up. True, Raikou would have preferred not to be the one doing such a chore, but after previous experiences? Those were the kinds of things that Raikou tried not to remember. Mentally shaking those thoughts from her mind, Raikou turned on her heel and started walking. If Vincent didn't get the fish...well, he'd get the fish.

"Come then, we can work with lightning while the clouds are still here."

Na'e wiped the sweat off his brow as he rested his knees on the cool wood. His breaths came in deep, heavy pants. How long had they been training? It seemed like hours. Na'e took a glance to the sky. The clouds had briefly cleared themselves from the area, which was the only reason Na'e was being allowed respite. The sun had passed its course, but was still well in the sky, soothing him with its warming rays. Na'e gave a long, relieved sigh. Then, as quickly as it had happened, the dark clouds blotted out the sky once again. Na'e sighed again, but this time out of dread. Not that he disliked Raikou, but she was a really, really tough teacher... he'd never heard her tongue so sharp before. Before he could get a sound verbal whipping from his female mentor, Na'e sprung off the stump and focused his attention on the stuffed dummy on the pole a few yards away from him.

Focus, store it until he could feel it in his fingertips, just waiting for it to be released... Na'e closed his eyes and let the energy surge through his body. Small tendrils of lightning sparked and danced around his fingertips... Na'e could almost feel it welcoming him... in a way... he almost had it. Suddenly, Na'e felt an overload of power spike in his right hand. Lightning surrounded and enveloped his entire arm, crackling as ions sizzled the air around him. Na'e was genuinely surprised: this was the first time he'd been able to pull this off in the entire day. He couldn't resist letting a huge grin spread across his face. Now, he just had to hit the damn target. Na'e reached his arm back, and hurled it forward with immense force, sending a bolt of lightning flying straight towards the dummy. Na'e's eyes widened: he was sure it would hit.

But much to his dismay, the streak took an abrupt turn to the right immediately before it struck the dummy, making the blast a clean miss. Na'e was mortified. His features wracked with anguish. The first time he was able to pull off the lightning trick in an entire day and he screwed it all up. Na'e barely restrained himself from letting out a cry of anger. Furious, flames erupted on his arm. It was a few seconds before the stuffed dummy was on flames too.

Cursed Conflicts -new RP!- Empty

Having been snapping and lecturing Na'e about the nature and abilities of lightning, Raikou ended up watching her friend try and fail the same technique over and over again. Lightning was a difficult element to master--possibly one of the hardest ones. Most of the other elements weren't even half as dangerous. Just as easily as lightning could be bent to one's will, it could turn against its master and destroy everything. Hell, in all reality, Raikou thought it was easier. Due to the fact that Raikou herself was incapable of magic, the girl had ended up teaching the theory of the three different methods. The first was the traditional Koukami way. Most of her family wasn't able to use magic of any sort, and so they had to use the clouds to their advantage. Anything that was big enough could be agitated by sending a shot of "energy" to it, which would create a bolt of lightning in the correct direction. The ones that were skilled in this were able to catch the lightning and redirect it. Raikou herself was capable of it, but found it highly uncomfortable to work with. The method she'd taught Na'e was with magic. Clouds being around made the entire process easier. It kept the familiarity of the sun away, and that made magic that much easier to make volatile enough to be materialized as lightning once it escaped a user's body. Now, the final method? That was the one that Raikou didn't like. It was natural lightning, and it would shorten someone's lifespan. She had been a bit sketchier on the details of that particular technique, planning to take it to the grave with her.

But at the moment, the skies were clear and Raikou was leaning her head back. She'd spent a cloud demonstrating the original Koukami technique, created and perfected by...someone in her family. The girl didn't care enough to remember at that moment. Suddenly, the clouds returned, rolling across the sky and her mismatched eyes darted towards Na'e once more, knowing that he would be back to his training or given a sound verbal assault. The boy was up and after a moment, was able to force the lightning to wrap around his arm. A smirk formed on his mentor's face, but she remained silent. The boy took aim and threw the attack at the dummy, looking so confident that his aim would prove true.

Unfortunately, that confidence was put to waste. The attack veered to the right at a sharp angle. Raikou sighed and leaped off the rock she happened to be standing on, ignoring the fact that the dummy was flaming. It was designed to be attacked by such things, meaning it would probably last a while. The fuming Na'e seemed not to have noticed or heard the martial artist walking up to him, which made it that much easier to swat the boy in the back of the head. "Na'e! How many times have I told you? Lightning isn't like your natural elements! Now stop being a fool and watch carefully!" Raikou snapped while taking a step forward. She compressed her energy and shot it out to the clouds above her head. One responded and fired a bolt of lightning directly at the girl.

Instantly, she raised her right arm and "caught" the lightning, feeling it sear her flesh a bit. Raikou tried hard not to wince and instantly moved and "fired" the lightning at a high speed at the dummy. It was blown off the ground and skid to a stop several feet away from its original position. Raikou hastily rubbed her arm a bit, though it was subtle. She wasn't particularly good at that technique after letting it rot in the back of her mind. There were probably some slightly reddened patches on her arm where the lightning had actually made contact, but the sleeves had blackened considerably. However, Raikou didn't let this deter her. "You can't throw lightning, Na'e, every simpleton knows that if it's given time, it will change its course! Why do you think lightning spells tend to go at such high speeds? Because they're fired from the body!"

It wasn't that Raikou really thought that Na'e was a fool or stupid or slow to learn, it was simply because lightning was so...dangerous. She'd known plenty of people who made a small mistake and ended up dead because of it. It made Raikou hesitate when they started training at times. She had almost killed herself practicing the traditional technique once, using her left hand and shooting the lightning through her heart when she'd caught it. The only reason she'd lived was probably because Baihukourei had helped to jumpstart her heart while someone else struck her with another bolt. Perhaps that was why Raikou had let the technique rot...but she'd never know. "Now, stop your fuming and try again!"
